CROSS-FORMED CHESS
ON THE PAX CHESS BOARD

Chess-men moves

A match’s
development

The central cross of the pax chess board divides
the game in three parts. Here peace is illusion.
The chess-men, trapped in a reduced game-space,
run into each other easily.
Only  Kings can travel from one game compartment to another, using the secret hallways made in a triangular shape in the center of the cross.
Situated on one of the six squares linked
by the angles of the triangle, Kings will have direct access to the other compartments.
In cross-shaped chess, Kings have an offensive role.
Apart from the Kings,
when they have succeeded in joining the triangular short-cuts, the pawns changed into queens have the choice, during the move where they change into queens,
to either stay in place or go on any empty square where their color was not yet allowed.
Once the compartment is chosen,
the pawn which has become a queen will not be allowed to change compartment any more.
